Summary
Mrs C complained that the treatment the board provided to her son (Mr A) was not of a reasonable standard. The board carried out investigations about the role of their staff in the complaint. They found that Mrs C had not advised the board's staff of concerns about her son's health, and had only notified Mr A's social worker. Mrs C subsequently accepted that there was no complaint to pursue against NHS staff, and the investigation with our office was not taken any further.

Summary
Ms C complained that the university had unreasonably withdrawn her from her course because of poor attendance. She had been experiencing personal difficulties, which she had reported to her personal tutor. The tutor had not passed on this information to the relevant people, so her circumstances had not been taken into account before her studies were terminated.
After we became involved, the university offered Ms C a meeting to discuss the options available to enable her to continue her studies. Her complaint was therefore withdrawn.
Summary
Mr C complained about various aspects of the treatment he received at the prison health centre. He complained that the board failed to carry out an appropriate assessment of him, and failed to adequately manage his pain. During the course of our investigation, Mr C was liberated from prison. He did not provide us with a forwarding address so we were unable to communicate with him. In the circumstances, we discontinued our investigation.

Summary
Mr C complained that the Scottish Prison Service (SPS) failed to take reasonable action in relation to his access to home leave. He was also dissatisfied with the way in which the SPS dealt with his complaint. We did not reach a decision on Mr C's complaint as he was released from prison and did not provide a forwarding address or confirm that he wished us to continue investigating his complaint.
Summary
Mr C complained that the prison health centre unreasonably decided to discontinue his medication when he failed a medication check. Mr C said the prison health centre failed to take account of the fact that he had reported to them that he was being bullied for his medication.
The prison health centre considered that Mr C had not been taking the medication as prescribed and therefore the medication was stopped to maintain his safety. The decision was reviewed by a multi-disciplinary team who assessed that there was no significant clinical risk to Mr C ceasing to receive the medication.
Before we reached a decision on Mr C's complaint, he requested to withdraw his complaint. Therefore, we closed the complaint without reaching a decision.
Summary
Mrs C complained to us that the medical practice had failed to prescribe her with medication that had been recommended by a private clinician.
Mrs C withdrew her complaint to us and we therefore did not continue our investigation.
