Festive closure
Our office will be closed for the festive period from 25 December 2025 and will reopen on Monday 5 January 2026. Our phone line will close at 11am on 24 December 2025.
You can still submit your complaint via our online form but this will not be processed until we reopen.

SPSO's Draft British Sign Language Plan - Consultation
We are pleased to publish the draft of our British Sign Language (BSL) Plan. This plan outlines the actions which SPSO will take over the period of 2018-2023 to improve access to information and services for BSL users. The plan is available in both English and BSL.

Social work update October 2016
Changes to social work complaints handling
Following a Scottish Government review of social work complaints, the complaints system will change from 1 April 2017.
The October 2016 update is the first in a series of bulletins about the changes to the social work procedure.
It includes information on:

- our professional judgement powers and how we will consider professional judgement;
