Festive closure

Our office will be closed for the festive period from 25 December 2025 and will reopen on Monday 5 January 2026. Our phone line will close at 11am on 24 December 2025.

You can still submit your complaint via our online form but this will not be processed until we reopen.

Support and Intervention Policy

Our new Support and Intervention Policy will come into place on 1 April 2019.  This policy formalises the mechanisms we already use to offer support to organisations and take intervention when required.  It will offer more clarity to public bodies regarding what to expect from us, how and when.  The policy and accompanying guidance is now available at http://www.valuingcomplaints.org.uk/support-and-intervention-policy.

SPSO's British Sign Language Plan

We are delighted to publish our first British Sign Language (BSL) Plan today. This Plan sets out the actions which the SPSO will take over the period 2018-2023 to improve access to information and services for BSL users.

As with the National BSL Plan, our Plan starts from the principled position that BSL is a language in its own right. Like all other citizens of Scotland, BSL users have the right to engage with and access information about SPSO and our service when they so choose, without unnecessary barriers.

Invitation to Tender - Cleaner Services

The Ombudsman is inviting tenders for the provision of cleaning services for the Scottish Public Services Ombudsman (SPSO), and on behalf of the Scottish Commissioner for Human Rights (SHRC) and the Children and Young People's Commissioner Scotland (CYPCS)

The deadline for submissions is 5pm on Monday 5 November 2018. Any response received after that time will not be considered further.
